During his college years, Rex worked as a portrait photographer and was a proud member of the Professional Photographers Guild of Florida. Featured here is a selection of portraits of distinguished entertainers he had the privilege to photograph during that era—vintage now, yet still meaningful for the spirit they capture and the moments preserved behind the lens.

Most were taken in theatre green rooms and dressing areas just before curtain—brief windows of personal access to remarkable artists. There were genuine connections with performers before and after the show, careful navigation of protective managers, and the quiet intensity that precedes live performance. Those moments—unfiltered and unscripted—remain among his most enduring memories.

The tools were classic as well—film, not digital—most often a Mamiya RB67 or a Hasselblad 500 C/M, with a Minolta SRT-101 close at hand.
